The Renault UK Clio Cup returned from the 6 week summer break to the Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk. The 4Front Motor Group with WDE Motorsport driver Paul Rivett currently lies in 3rd place in the championship.

After a closely fought qualifying session Paul scored his fastest qualifying lap time of 2:07:469s and in a display of consistency and control his second fastest qualifying lap time was also 2:07:469s.

Unfortunately Paul had to retire from race 1 after making contact with both Bushell’s and Whorton-Eales’s cars going into the newly renamed Wilson (Montreal Hairpin)  after trying to capitalise on Kidsley spinning off the track. While Bushell and Whorton-Eales damage was mainly superficial, unfortunately Paul’s damage was more significant and he was unable to continue the fight.

Race 2 was shortened to 8 laps due to various stoppages throughout the day. Paul started the race from 8th position due to a 3 grid place penalty for the incident in race 1. On lap 4 whilst hunting down the leading four Paul set a new lap record of 2:07:486, at Brundle Chicane the 4Front Motor Group with WDE Motorsport driver took 3rd position. Paul knew the car had great pace and felt confident of getting a podium position.

Paul is currently 4th in the championship on 229 points, only 78 points behind the  championship leader. With two drop scores to be taken into account the battle for the title is far from over.

The Renault UK Clio Cup will return for rounds 13 and 14 on 27/28th August 2016 at Rockingham a track where Paul has been victorious 3 times.
