Paul Rivett can now add the Nurburgring to the list of circuits he’s been victorious on after triumphing at the German venue as the British Truck Racing Championship made its trip to Europe.

Rivett won the final race of a weekend where the British category joined up with the FIA European series. It was a strong weekend for the Tachosys-sponsored driver as he was fastest in both Division 2 qualifying sessions, with the only downside being a race-one crash.

“We were quickest in both qualifying sessions again, it’s just a shame we had the accident in the first race because I could’ve had three podiums,” admitted Rivett. “At Turn 3 I just got sandwiched between two other trucks and it split the batteries so there was no chance of getting going again.”

That left Rivett’s WDE Motorsport crew with a significant repair job but he was able to get back out for the next two races. And the hard work the team put in paid off as Rivett finished third in race two before winning the finale.

“The guys worked really hard to get the truck fixed, it was a fantastic job by the team,” he said.

“In the last race I was just managing my pace as I had a bit of an issue with brake fade in the second race. We had a full course yellow and they caught me up but I managed the gap again.”

Overall, Rivett thoroughly enjoyed his Nurburgring experience and is feeling ever more confident at the wheel of his MAN TGA truck.

“That was the first time I had ever driven the Nurburgring so I had a lot to learn,” he said. “It’s an amazing track. The whole facility is amazing and I can’t wait to go back again and race there.

“We’ve certainly got the pace and I’m feeling more and more confident and at home in the truck.”

Rivett’s next outing will be at the more familiar territory of Donington Park on August 10-11.
