Great start to the 2018 Renault Clio Cup season for Paul Rivett

Paul Rivett made a terrific start to the 2018 Renault UK Clio Cup season at Brands Hatch, picking up a win and a second place. But, despite the success in the races, his meeting got off to a terrible start. Three-time Clio champion Rivett was limited to just a handful of laps in Friday practice as an actuator problem left him on the sidelines. “I won’t bother with Friday testing now!” joked Rivett, after he then turned his weekend around. “What it did do was it allowed me to watch the second session and that was useful.” Rivett’s fightback...

The three-time champion was celebrating his 200th race in the series after making his debut back in 2001. Rivett was determined to mark the occasion in style. The WDE Motorsport driver started third but that quickly became second as James Dorlin slid wide at Brooklands on the opening lap. Rivett then had champion-elect Mike Bushell in his sights. He soon caught the Pyro driver and pulled off a brilliant pass around...

Rockingham Race Report

It was a weekend full of ups and downs for Paul Rivett at Rockingham as he lost second place in the Renault UK Clio Cup standings. The three-time champion got off to a good start by qualifying second for the opening race – a strong result after a season blighted by failing to get a top grid slot. But he was unable to fully capitalise on this after making a slow getaway and dropping to third. He was then overtaken by Jack McCarthy at Deene on lap three and the resulting contact hampered Rivett for the rest of the...
