Paul secures second in the Championship

Paul Rivett capped off a successful season in the Renault UK Clio Cup at Brands Hatch by securing second in the championship and also winning the Masters Cup crown for drivers aged over 34. The three-time Clio champion was delighted to end the season with two pieces of silverware, although the final pair of races of 2017 proved to be a disappointment. Rivett’s weekend got off to a difficult start as the three-time champion was only able to qualify seventh for both races. With overtaking sometimes tricky at the Norfolk track, Rivett knew that getting a good result would be difficult. “I was just a bit unlucky,” he explained. “I had seven flying laps and had traffic and spinners on four of those and I lost one for track limits so that left me...

STRONG FIGHTBACKS FROM RIVETT

Paul Rivett produced one of the overtaking moves of the season during two strong recovery drives to take a solid haul of points in the Renault UK Clio Cup at Croft. The three-time champion had a disappointing qualifying session in very wet conditions and could only achieve ninth and eighth starting positions for the two races. But that didn’t prevent the WDE Motorsport driver from charging up the order. He was up to seventh by the end of the first lap of the opener and continued to work his way through the field, passing Max Coates for fourth at...
